Aloha Tower
Stage 3 - Work in progress

Aloha Tower is at Honolulu Harbor on Oahu, and cruise ships dock here frequently.  This oil  harbor painting is still very rough; only the sky is pretty much finished.   Below are the very beginning stages:

Stage one

Stage two

Please return soon for more progress on this oil painting and to see it finished as well.

Thank you for viewing my art.

Magnificent Ko'olau Mountains from Kaneohe Bay - Oil Seascape by Carol Reynolds

"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not."  -  Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Magnificent Ko'olau Mountains"
8" x 16" oil on canvas
$1295

This oil seascape of the Ko'olau Mountains and Mokolii Island, or Chinaman's Hat as it is locally called (in the background in the far right) is a scene of Windward Oahu (the east coast) from Kaneohe Bay.   The Ko'olau mountains run from Oahu's South Shore to the island's North Shore beaches.   Though beautiful and impressive, these mountains are only 3100 feet at the tallest point.   It is breathtaking to see waterfalls cascading down these mountains during a heavy storm.

I admit, when I first arrived in Hawaii I was not that impressed with the mountains here.  I had been used to seeing the mainland's Rocky Mountains as well as other gorgeous areas like Sedona, Arizona.
But these green mountains rather grew on me and I now appreciate their unique beauty.

"Harbor Morning" - Oil Seascape

"Study nature.  Exaggerate light; overstate - the less inhibited you are the better."  - Sergei Bongart

"Harbor Morning"
8" x 16" oil on canvas
$ 1295

This oil harbor scene was completed this afternoon.  Quite some time ago I painted a miniature study of this harbor with the intention of working on a larger painting of this scene in the future.   I changed things considerably in this work, so it is like new to me.

"A Special Time And Place" - Oil Seascape Painting with Sunset

"A Special Time And Place"
9" x 12" oil on canvas
$725

This oil seascape painting at sunset just cries out loud, "Hawaii".    I painted it from my imagination, however, but it is typical of what you see in the Hawaiian Islands.    This work is a revised version of a painting I did quite some time ago and I had been intending for a long time to rework it and liven up the color a bit.   Below is the original version.

South Padre Island Splendor - Oil Seascape (at FAA)

"South Padre Island Splendor"
16" x 20" oil on canvas

I have posted this oil seascape of South Padre Island previously, but I wanted to share with you how this image has sold more as a print on Fine Art America than any of my other paintings or photographs available there.    It has sold as a framed print on watercolor paper, an unframed print, an acrylic print, and as a note card.   Fine Art America also provides metal prints as an option.  Check out this painting on FAA here       You may also visit my website there  http://carol-reynolds.artistwebsites.com

Below is an oil seascape "Sunflowers At North Padre Island" another 16" x 20" on canvas painted around the same time as the work above.  I had never seen sunflowers at the beach before and I was granted that pleasure on my visit there...... the right place at the right time.

The above oil painting is also available as a print or a note card at Fine Art America.

I will be posting recent works in progress soon.   Stay tuned !

The Clouds Speak (Oil Sunset Seascape by Seascape Artist Carol Reynolds)

"The artist must say it without saying it."  - Duke Ellington

"The Clouds Speak" - Psalm 69:34

6" x 12" oil on gallery wrap canvas
$595

This small oil sunset seascape, though based on a reference photograph, was created  mostly from my imagination, especially the dramatic clouds.   The reference photo has a dull grey sky.

I went back to painting a smaller canvas for now.  I have been ill with bronchitis with other side effects and have not felt like painting.   I tire easily and need to rest more, so the going has been slow lately.    I will resume painting larger canvases when I am feeling better.

To purchase this painting please contact reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com

"Endurance" - Windswept Tree on Beach (Oil Seascape Painting by Hawaii Seascape Artist Carol Reynolds)

"Endurance"  (Matthew 24:13)
6" x 12" oil on gallery wrap canvas
$425

This oil seascape of a windswept tree on the beach in Kapaa, Kauai, has been on my mind to paint for a long time.   I admire trees and their character; each tree is unique and has a different story to tell.   This particular one could really tell some whoppers, judging from its weather formed shape.

It is painted with exceptional artist oils and, since it is on gallery wrap canvas and the sides are also painted, you need not frame it.    However, I always recommend a nice frame for a more elegant presentation.

Please contact me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com to purchase this new work.

Fishermen At Kailua Bay For Halalu Run - Oil Seascape by Hawaii artist Carol Reynolds

"Fishermen at Kailua Bay - Halalu Run"
8" x 16" oil on canvas
$1275

This oil seascape shows fishermen with their net anticipating a good catch of Halalu, which are juvenile akule, a fish indigenous to Hawaii and often called "Big Eyed" scad.   They can be eaten or used for bait for much larger fish.    I was at the right place at the right time to snap reference photos of the fishermen at Kailua Beach on Oahu.

The peninsula in the background is known as Mokapu peninsula, as well as King Kamehameha's Turtle.   Legend says that the "Turtle" hides a secret underwater tunnel that King Kamehameha  used to travel to the island of Molokai.  This peninsula is now home to Kaneohe Marine Corps Base.

To purchase this painting, please contact me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com

Below is a video of  people fishing for halalu at Waimea Bay, another beach on Oahu.

Thank you for viewing my art.

Glow At Eternity Beach (Hawaiian Seascape)

"Glow At Eternity Beach"
6" x 6" acrylic on panel
$350

This seascape is an area on Oahu, Hawaii, known as Halona Cove, but the locals call it "Eternity Beach" from a movie scene shot there with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr in the oldie "From Here To Eternity".

There was a winner for the Watercolor Video giveaway, but she has not responded to my email yet.  More later.

Taking It All In - 2nd Version (Seascape With Woman On Sand Dunes)

"Taking It All In" (Second Version)
6" x 6" acrylic on panel
$350

This acrylic seascape was fun to paint for a change.  I will eventually go back to oils, but right now I wanted to work in acrylics for 4 small seascapes in progress.

Pink Moon and Seascape Works In Progress - Eternity Beach and Diamond Head (And Clarifying Previous Post)

Diamond Head From The Hilton

The above photo of Diamond Head Crater (an extinct volcano)  was taken in the early morning from the beach at the Hilton in Waikiki.  Perfect timing with the boat being there !   Below is the beginning stages of a 6" x 6" acrylic of this scene.

Very very rough beginning of Diamond Head
6" x 6" Acrylic WIP

Eternity Beach

This is Halona Beach on Oahu, but the locals call it Eternity Beach because of the old movie "From Here to Eternity" that had a scene filmed here with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr.   I am working on another 6" x 6" painting of this scene as well, shown below.

Eternity Beach WIP
Again, very rough work in progress

Special Moments (Oil Seascape Painting)

"Special Moments"
6" x 8" oil on linen on panel
$375

This oil seascape is of  Kaneohe Bay on the windward side of the Hawaiian Island of Oahu.  A father and his daughter are sharing a special time together.   That overturned boat was in actuality very weather beaten with lots of grass growing around it.

Breezy Day; Peaceful Thoughts (Seascape Oil Painting Mokoli'i Island Hawaii)

"All the really good ideas I ever had came to me while I was milking a cow." - Grant Wood

"Breezy Day; Peaceful Thoughts"
6" x 8" oil on linen canvas on panel
$375

This oil seascape of Mokoli'i Island off Oahu was a joy to paint.  The island, also called "Chinaman's Hat" because of its resemblance to the straw hats worn by Chinese immigrants, used to be connected to Oahu but over time the sea cut it off.   Mokoli'i is accessible to the public by boat, kayak, swimming, and surfboard; but beware, sharks are often seen there.
The island is in the Elvis Presley film "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" and also in several shots in the film "50 First Dates" starring Adam Sandler.

Please email me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com for more information or to purchase this painting.

This oil beach scene of a mother and son was such a joy to paint.  I intend to paint more people-filled beaches in the future.  Remember that the December Art Sale Prices are good until December 31, after which these paintings will go back to their original higher price.

Please email me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com if you would like to purchase this painting.

December Art Sale - Diamond Head Lighthouse And Beach

"Diamond Head Lighthouse And Beach"
9" x 12" acrylic on canvas
$355
(unframed)

Diamond Head Lighthouse is a short distance from Waikiki Beach on Oahu.   This is one of my more impressionistic works; sometimes when I stress color in a painting it will take on a more "painterly" look than my tighter realistic ones.

Again, this is a special price for the entire month of December, after which- if the painting is not sold -it will revert back to its original price.  Email me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com  with your information and I will send you a PayPal invoice if you would like to purchase this painting.

December Art Sale - "Near Monterey" (Seascape)

"Near Monterey"
8" x 10" Acrylic on canvas
$325
(unframed)

This acrylic seascape is of an area outside of Monterey, California.   I used my artistic license and added the woman and extra seagulls.   California was very special to me (still is), but this was painted before I moved to Hawaii and experienced its awesome beauty.

Please email me if interested in purchasing this painting at this special price during the month of December  and I will send you an invoice through PayPal.  Also, view my contact page on this blog for more information on how to get in touch with me.   Again, shipping is free if you live within the USA.

Evening Light - Hawaii Seascape

"Evening Light"
6" x 6" Oil on panel
$350

This scene is on the leeward coast of Oahu at Ko' Olina resort.   I used a little artistic license with the house in the right mid-ground, otherwise it is true to the actual place.

Tropical Shores (Re-worked) - Seascape

"Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, 'You owe me.'  Look what happens with a love like that, it lights up the whole sky."  - Hafiz

"Tropical Shores"
5" x 7" oil on panel
$275

This oil seascape cried out to be improved from a previous post   This ocean scene is totally from my imagination although it is typical of Hawaii and other tropical beaches.   The blues are not quite as intense in the original painting as this image depicts.
For more information or to purchase this painting, please email me at reynoldsrenditions@gmail.com
